š¦ Deals, Good Deeds & the Elk Bugle: A Fall Weekend Near Pacific, MO

š A Fabulous Fall Weekend Near Pacific
A good weekend does not always require an elaborate itinerary. Saturday can begin with bargain hunting and learning about an organization that has served Pacific for approximately 95 years.
Sunday can bring a quiet drive through the changing landscape, with the windows cracked just enough to listen for an elk bugle. Together, the two outings offer a little shopping, local history, community spirit and one of the seasonās most memorable wildlife experiences.

š¦ Neighbors Helping Neighbors Since 1931
The Pacific Lions Club is part of a worldwide volunteer network guided by the simple motto āWe Serve.āĀ Lions are especially known for protecting eyesight, but they also address hunger, support young people and help meet other community needs.
Pacificās club was chartered during the Great Depression in 1931. Its earliest members created paid civic-improvement work for unemployed residents, delivered food to struggling families and provided meals and shoes for local schoolchildren.
That spirit continues through community projects and fundraisersāincluding the clubās longtime all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. This weekendās garage sale is another opportunity to shop locally while supporting neighbors who have served Pacific for approximately 95 years.

š« Listen for the Elk Bugle at Lone Elk Park
After shopping locally on Saturday, consider making Sunday a fall wildlife day at Lone Elk Park.
Late September through mid-October is the elk mating season, also called āthe rut.ā During this period, bull elk compete for females and make their distinctive bugling calls.
The parkās drive-through wildlife loop makes it possible to look for elk, bison, deer, wild turkey and other wildlife from your vehicle. Sightings and bugling are never guaranteed, but visiting near the parkās morning opening may improve the experience.
