Spring is on the horizon, but it looks like the season is kicking off with some stormy weather! As we prepare for the first major spring storm of the year this Friday, March 14, weāre bringing you essential safety tips, severe weather preparedness information, and, of course, everything you need to know about the St. Patrickās Day Parade happening this Saturday, March 15.

āļø First Spring Storm Alert: What to Expect
The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather outlook for Friday, March 14, with a strong possibility of:
High winds
Heavy rain
Lightning
Large hail
Potential tornado activity
With this being the first significant spring storm of the season, itās crucial to be prepared!
š What to Do If Youāre Driving During a Storm
If youāre on the road when severe weather hits, follow these safety steps:
Pull over safely: Avoid stopping under bridges or overpasses.
Stay inside your vehicle: Keep your seatbelt on and duck below the window level if necessary.
Avoid flooded roads: Even a few inches of water can cause dangerous hydroplaning.
Find sturdy shelter if a tornado is near: If no building is available, do not try to outrun a tornado. Instead, exit your vehicle and lie flat in a low-lying ditch while covering your head.

š» Be Ready with a Weather Radio
With the possibility of power outages, having a battery-operated NOAA weather radio is essential. These radios provide real-time alerts, updates, and emergency instructions.
š PVA Residents: Severe Weather Safety Plan
For PVA residents, we are opening the PVA basement during business hours as a shelter for severe weather.
If storms hit after hours, the safest place is an interior room such as a closet or bathroom.
Now that weāve covered storm safety, letās talk about the exciting weekend ahead!
